Beat The Heat |
Round One
Hooters 57 Football Nazis 48
The Hooters advanced with the help of Emmitte Smith (13) and the Steelers defense (9). The Nazis' weak WRs K and QB output produced their worst output since week 3 to complete their annual first round fold. Trading Randy Moss finally paid off for the Hooters as Emmitt Smith made the difference.
NYC Bullies 70 Loose Gooses 60
The Bullies season best 70 point output was too much for the Loose Gooses as Bret Favre David Boston and Tim Brown were unusually quiet. The Bullies had four score in double figures: McNabb (13), C-Mart (16), Jimmy Smith (12) and Gramatica (16). Marshall Faulk (25) and John Hall (16) helped the Loose Gooses keep it respectable.
Both Round One Losers advanced in the Consolation Round.
NYC Bullies 56 Chicago Gamblers 54
Seahawk K Ryan Lyndell's game winning 54 yard field goal was Sunday afternoon's final play That field goal provided the game winning points for the Bullies. The Bullies New York RB combo remained strong as Tiki Barber (14) and Curtis Martin (16) let the way. Gamblers' star Kurt Warner (16) helped to keep it close. But, the absence of Jerome Bettis prevented the Gamblers from repeating.
Hooters 54 Initalone 48
The Hooters overcame a low scoring week from Aaron Brooks with double figure scoring from Emmette Smith (12) and Jerry Rice (10) to lead the Hooters their first Fun Bowl appearance despite the absence of #1 pick Edgerin James. Initalone's Ahman Green (4) and Chris Chambers (4) led the letdowns in Linda's lineup.
Fun Bowl XIV
Hooters 63 NYC Bullies 25
The Hooters bounced the Bullies with the the help of Titans Derrick Mason (18) and Steve McNair (8) plus the Steelers Defense (10). Chuck Krueger's Hooters over came the loss of #1 pick Edgerrin James with production from legends Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice to win three straight playoff games including Fun Bowl XIV. The Bullies were undermanned due to reduced final week playing time for NcNabb and Barber.
Third Place
Chicago Gamblers 57 Initalone 48
The Gamblers were not only missing star RB Jerome Bettis, but K Sebastian Janikowski was also MIA for the final week. But double figure performances from Charlie Garner, Shawn Alexander, and Marvin Harrison led the defending champs to the show position.
Rich Gannon (11), Ahman Green (11) and Terrell Owens (11) were not enough to overcome Ricky Williams' (1) poor outing for Initalone.
Consolation: Marshall Faulk Bowl
The Loose Gooses, powered by Marshall Faulk (21), won the right to draft him again in 2002. The Gooses, who led the league in point scored, outscored all playoff teams in in rounds two and three.
Toilet Bowl
The Bocce Balls avoided embarrassment in the league's first battle of playoff losers by flushing BeatTheHeat in Toilet Bowl I.
